"...and the night was comfortably warm as the soft filtered light continued to push the darkness into the shadows as they held each other and kissed and pushed each others darkness into the corner, believing in each others light, each others dream."
when i first saw this image i felt like i'd had a blow to the back of my head! this is a bold and striking image... most provocative and has great depth.
for vision, i am awarding 4/5 - the only reason i am not giving full marks for 'vision' is that the inspiration was derived from another's vision, namely the movie 'Requiem for a Dream'.
for originality, i am awarding full marks - the visual depiction and interpretation of this inspiration source is one of the most original i've seen, even the shape of the spiral staircase is like an eye... akin to the movie poster and book cover, thus evoking a kind of familiarity and sublime attachment and empathy. the crumbling surroundings and obvious collapse of the lovers' surroundings, and their 'collapse' seems both mental, sexual, physical and emotional.... very intense, very original.
for technique, i am awarding full marks also - i cannot fault the composition, the light, the focus, the concept and emotion it exudes. beautiful work.
for impact, i am again awarding full marks. like i said at the start, when i first saw this image my attention was ravaged. the image is so intense, so beautifully constructed and it emotes so much that i cannot look away. it was like a head rush....
Being one of my favorite movies I appreciate the title of this shot, and it does its namesake proud. You did a great job of using the stairs to lead the eyes down as well as bring optimal focus to the subjects. The lighting is also used nicely to highlight the pair. You may even want to see how it looks with the exposure of the stairs knocked down a stop or two.
But, as great of a composition as this is, those light fixtures at the bottom are terribly distracting. They add nothing to the image and detract everything. Every time I look up the pair my eyes immediate go to them. Cloning them out would make a much cleaner image, with no distractions.
beautiful my dear.. absolutely lovely.. the only comment i would make is about the female in the picture's leg position and the strain her arms seem to be under.. they make it a little less spectacular for me then if it was a little softer.. but still beautiful
